This recipe was taken from Kōloa Elementary School’s 1987 Staff Cookbook. It originates from Frances Gandingan, who was a lunch supervisor at the time. To this day, it is still a hit.

Aunty Frances
Ingredients:
Crust:
1 cup
butter (softened but not melted)
½ tsp
vanilla
⅔ cup
sugar
1 - ½ cup
flour (sifted)
1 - ¼ cup
chopped walnuts (optional)
Filling:
2 - 8 oz
cream cheese (softened)
2
large eggs
½ cup
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
Topping:
1 large can
Bartlett Pears
2 tbsp
cinnamon
2 tbsp
sugar
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Crust: Mix together, press into 9 x 13 pan, and bake for 15 minutes
Filling: Beat ingredients until smooth. Pour on to cooked crust
Topping: Drain, slice and arrange pear on top of cream mixture. Sprinkle mixture of cinnamon and sugar over top. Bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes
