Okinawan Pork
Ingredients:
2 lbs | pork belly |
6 cloves | garlic |
2 inches | ginger |
½ cup | water |
½ cup | shoyu |
½ cup | sake |
½ cup | brown sugar |
2 tbsp | mirin |
Directions:
- Cut pork belly into 1 inch thick pieces
- Mince garlic and ginger
- Mix the water, shoyu, sake, brown sugar, and mirin in a bowl
- Brown the pork belly
- Add the minced garlic and ginger, mix with the pork, and saute for approximately 1 minute
- Add the water, soy sauce, sake, brown sugar, and mirin mixture
- Bring to boil and cover
- Turn the heat to low and let simmer for about two hours or until the pork can be pierced with a fork easily
