Nutella Shortbread Brownies
One day, I was tasked to bring dessert to a party. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to bake brownies or shortbread cookies, or something with Nutella. So, I combined them all into one dessert! It was a hit at the party, that it’s now a highly requested dish.
Ingredients:
Shortbread:
2 cups | all-purpose flour |
½ cup | sugar |
¾ cup | salted butter |
Brownies:
1 cup | salted butter |
1 cup | chocolate chips |
1 cup | sugar |
4 | eggs |
1 tsp | vanilla extract |
½ cup | Nutella |
¾ cup | all-purpose flour |
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- For the shortbread, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, and butter in a food processor until it resembles a coarse meal
- Spray 9 x 13-inch baking pan with non-stick oil. Press the mixture into the baking pan and bake for 20 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- For the brownie, place the butter and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave in 30 second intervals -- mixing between intervals until smooth
- Mix in sugar to the melted chocolate and butter mixture
- Add eggs -- one at time -- stirring well after each addition
- Stir-in vanilla and Nutella
- Finally, mix in flour until fully combined
- Pour the brownie batter over the cooked shortbread and spread evenly
- Bake for 35 - 40 minutes
