One day, I was tasked to bring dessert to a party. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to bake brownies or shortbread cookies, or something with Nutella. So, I combined them all into one dessert! It was a hit at the party, that it’s now a highly requested dish.

Ingredients:

Shortbread:

2 cupsall-purpose flour
½ cupsugar
¾ cupsalted butter

Brownies:

1 cupsalted butter
1 cupchocolate chips
1 cupsugar
4eggs
1 tspvanilla extract
½ cupNutella
¾ cupall-purpose flour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. For the shortbread, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, and butter in a food processor until it resembles a coarse meal
  3. Spray 9 x 13-inch baking pan with non-stick oil. Press the mixture into the baking pan and bake for 20 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  4. For the brownie, place the butter and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat in the microwave in 30 second intervals -- mixing between intervals until smooth
  5. Mix in sugar to the melted chocolate and butter mixture
  6. Add eggs -- one at time -- stirring well after each addition
  7. Stir-in vanilla and Nutella
  8. Finally, mix in flour until fully combined
  9. Pour the brownie batter over the cooked shortbread and spread evenly
  10. Bake for 35 - 40 minutes
