Apple Cobbler
Ingredients:
6 | Granny Smith or Golden Delicious apples, peeled and cut into chunks |
1 cup | Apple juice |
1/3 cup | brown sugar |
1 tbsp | cornstarch |
1 tbsp | lemon juice |
1/2 tsp | vanilla extract |
1 tsp | ground cinnamon |
1/2 tsp | ground nutmeg |
1/8 tsp | salt |
Batter:
1 cup | all purpose flour |
1 cup | white sugar |
2 tsp | baking powder |
1/4 tsp | salt |
3/4 cup | milk |
5 tbsp | melted butter |
For topping | ground cinnamon |
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a large saucepan mix brown sugar, water, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt
- Stir in apples and cook over medium heat for five minutes, stirring occasionally
- Pour mixture into a lightly greased 9x13 pan
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Then mix in milk and melted butter
- Pour mixture over the apples in the pan and top with cinnamon
- Bake for 40 minutes or until. toothpick inserted into topping comes out clean
- Cool for 15 minutes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
