What motto best describes your outlook on life?
I live by the motto, “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” It is my goal to seek and take advantage of opportunities that will help me get a step further toward reaching my dreams. Although the journey may be rough and unpredictable, I will continue to do my best to overcome these challenges.
What has being awarded the Grove Farm Scholarship meant to you?
This scholarship means more to me than just obtaining money; it also means that I am viewed as having potential for the future of our society. It has given me the opportunity to pursue a nursing degree to give back to my community and take care of my family, both financially and physically.
What did you miss the most?
I’ve missed the lifestyle and feeling of having a close-knit community where people know each other and can rely on one another. The new friends I have made in college remind me that the aloha spirit is not limited to the islands but to all its people. They have made this new community a home away from home.
What drives you?
What drives me is the ability to make a tangible difference. I find it motivating to put my time and effort towards projects that have a positive impact on others. Through my education, I will have the knowledge and skills to care for the health and welfare of those around me.
What gives you hope for the future?
I find hope in knowing that the future is uncertain. The endless possibilities inspire personal growth, development, and fulfillment. It can be anything and everything.
