LĪHU’E, HI – In preparation for Hurricane Lane, Grove Farm has and continues with proactive measures. We are closely monitoring our reservoirs to keep them in good condition and maintain the water at a minimum operating level. These reservoirs are a critical source for agricultural farms, drinking water, and for irrigating landscaping or golf courses.
Our Waiahi Surface Water Treatment Plant, which serves 15,000 residents from Līhu’e to Kapa’a, is also being monitored. At that critical infrastructure location, back up generating systems are in place and are available should commercial power be interrupted.
In Koloa, along the Waihohonu Stream, we have cleared the waterway of debris. This will assist the stream to handle the increased flow of anticipated rain water without backing up into the adjacent homes and other structures.
Our crews are also on standby to keep our roadways clear of potential fallen trees and other debris.
Grove Farm is also assisting with other businesses who need additional land to pre-stage, to store, or to secure their equipment and other goods.
We will continue with these and other proactive measures and further updates will be provided. In the meantime, we urge all of our Kaua’i residents and visitors to take the necessary precautions to be safe as this severe storm approaches our islands.
