Team of the Week for this week ending Saturday goes to the Kaua’i High School boys air riflery team who broke the 1,300 point mark during their match against Island School! The Red Raider marksmen were led by Kaimana Texeira who finished the three positions with 65 points, and team mate Brandon Marcos who finished just three points shy of being perfect in the prone position en route to his day’s total 264 points, just a point short of Texeira. The top score in each of the three positions – prone, kneeling and standing –is 100, making 300 an overall perfect score. 

Kauai’s score was the highest posted during the day after the Kapaa High School boys bested the Waimea boys team 1,161-1,139 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.

Micheal Anderson led the Warriors’ win at 263 (96-79-88) points, two points shy of Texeira’s mark, and Waimea High School topped its effort with Bergen Ceballos finishing at 252 (85-81-86) points.

For the girls, Kauai High completed a Raider sweep by besting the Voyager women, 1,223-998, led by Kierstyn Bukoski firing 254 points (90 prone, 76 kneeling, and 88 standing). The Voyager girls had Bonnie Lee netting 250 (89-77-84) points. The Kapaa girls posted the best score of the day at 1,250 points while beating out Waimea, whose Menehune girls ended with 1,212 points, led by Norie Mae Ramirez finishing at 255 (95-79-81) points, three less than Kapaa’s top shooter Haley Gokan, who ended at 258 (94-78-86).
