This week's Team of the Week goes out to the Kapa'a High School Warriors football team! They secured the KIF Championship along with a 2-seed ranking in the state. Kapa'a’s Ryno Banasihan scored five touchdowns to lead the Warrior football team to a 53-15 win over the Waimea High School Menehune, Saturday under the broiling Hanapepe sun.

Despite a 42-0 Kapaa lead, Waimea would not roll over when Ariki Cardejon plucked a Kahanu Davis aerial late in the second quarter to set up a Menehune touchdown by Cory Soares for a 42-7 Warrior bulge at the break. Both teams scored two touchdowns apiece in the second half for the final 53-15 Kapaa win.

The Warrior victory brings the Kauai Interscholastic Federation league championship back to Warriorland. It also earned Kapaa a No. 2 seed in the First Hawaiian Bank Hawaii Athletic Association Division II state football championships. This means Kapaa will host a semifinal match at Vidinha Stadium on Nov. 17 starting at 2 p.m. against the winner of the No. 3 seed Kamehameha-Big Island and Kaimuki that will contest on the Big Island, Nov. 10.
