The Grove Farm Team of the Week honor belongs to the Waimea High School cheer team under the coaching of Roxanne Cardejon who finished the week by winning the KIF cheerleading competition, Thursday night at the Kauai High School gym.
Working under the canopy of enthusiastic Menehune fans, the cheerleaders earned 466 points over Kauai High School who finished with 401.5 points, and Kapaa High School whose three cheerleaders debuted on the KIF scene earning 341.75 points. The victory earns the Menehune cheer squad eligibility to represent the KIF at the Zippy’s HHSAA cheerleading competition that will contest Nov. 17 at the Neal Blaisdell Center on Oahu.
On Oahu, Kapaa bowler Dana Murata was the sole KIF bowler to find a medal at the 2018 Billy Tees Hawaii High School Athletic Association bowling championships that wrapped up Friday at the Hickam Bowling Center. Murata finished the state championships in 11th place with a nine-game 1,375 pinfall.
